This is a real Cicada specimen that has been altered with gears and clockwork pieces to look like a mechanical insect. It is mounted into a rustic barn wood shadow-box frame with filigree corner accents. The box has a hanger on the back to display it hung on a wall.
The box measures roughly 8 x 6 x 1.5 inches.
